Folly Tower Booking Conditions for Private Visits

Important Safety Information

1. You are fully responsible for the safety of all of your visitors. Please ensure that you have adequate supervision – especially for children.
2. Never leave the entrance door unattended when there are visitors in the tower. Before climbing the Tower, you must either leave someone at the entrance, or lock the door by turning the knob – at knee level.
3. Take care when using the final set of stairs to the roof. Treat them like a ladder and descend facing the stairs.
4. No naked flames in the Tower or the Woodland and no smoking anywhere in the Tower - not even on the roof!
5. Take special care when closing the roof hatch - after about halfway closed it becomes much heavier.
6. If you have any accidents or incidents, please report in the visitors’ book in the Belvedere Room before you leave the Tower.
7. NOTE: A maximum of 25 people in the Tower at any time.

 
Operating Instructions

1.  The door lock is at knee level – ignore the lock at shoulder level.                  
2.  Insert and withdraw the key horizontally.
3.  Please leave the dehumidifiers switched on and do not change settings.
4. Before you leave, please
   1. Close the roof hatch and windows
   2. Ensure that heaters are turned off – DO NOT switch the DEHUMIDIFERS off.
   3. Leave the Tower in the condition you would like to find it.
   4. Ensure that all lights are turned off. The amber lights above the entrance door indicate that lights are on in the top of the Tower. Please ensure that the amber lights, and the light above the outside of the door are switched off.​

Q1:
What is the maximum number of people allowed in the Tower?
    A: The maximum capacity for the Folly Tower is 25. However, for seating at tables this is reduced to 12 - or 16 if you don’t mind being a bit crowded. Please note that we have only 12 chairs. Visitors are allowed sit on the window sills or bring additional seats.

What facilities are available if we decide to self-cater?
    A: We do not have any catering facilities which leaves you with the flexibility of self catering, bringing a picnic or take-a-way, or using external caterers.  
In the past visitors have used:

• Sudbury House Hotel on London Street. www.sudburyhouse.co.uk
• and take-a-ways from many venues in Faringdon.

Q3:
Can we hold a barbecue in the woodland?
    A: Definitely no barbecues or fires or naked flames in the woodland.

Q4:
How late can we stay in the Tower?
    A: Your event must end no later than midnight.

Q5:
Are there any toilet facilities in theTower or nearby?
    A: There are no toilet facilities in the tower or woodland. 
There are public toilets in the centre of Faringdon, or you may be able to make arrangements to use the facilities in Sudbury House Hotel.

Is there any running water in the Tower or Woodland.
   A: No
